A Tribute to Kanchan Mam
“It’s the petty things that matter the most in business”
One of the most profound advices I’ve ever gotten in my entrepreneurial journey so far…
M Kanchan- My Professor, Mentor, Advisor, Host and what not. She wore so many hats that I can’t even keep a count of.
Room No.- 213 in Thapar School of Management, the cabin with the most peaceful vibes on the campus. If you go inside and mam is there, you’ll always be offered something to eat, the cabin was never empty.
I feel so blessed that I had the privilege of having a person of her stature to help me with anything and everything whenever I felt stuck.
I’ll miss the conversations I had with you, mam.. My heart just sinks on the thought that we can’t have any more calls.
“Bachche, you have to do everything in a startup, even the Jhadoo-Poncha.. You can’t spend even a single penny without considering it 10 times because if you do so, the startup will die.
It’s the petty things that matter.
The water bottle that you bought while going to meet the client is also an expense that you need to track otherwise you’ll be feeling that you’re profitable but won’t even realise when the cash dried up and you’re about to go out of business because there are no funds left”
I still have a long way to learn to control that and keep a track of.
I was never worried because I knew that you’re just a call away and one tight scold from you will set me right.
But not anymore. I’ve lost that power. My go to mentor for all my finance discussions won’t be answering any of the calls now.
The lunches I had at her place will be missed so much. She was the warmest host I’ve ever come across.
“If you’re ever around, you come here for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. I enjoy this”- that’s what she would have told you as well if you had ever gotten connected with her.
One of the purest souls with the most amazing smile and an extremely intellectual mind has left the world and it’s going to be extremely hard processing that.
I wish I had a chance to have a few more conversations with you!
RIP Mam
Thank you for inspiring & guiding me and many other like me.
I'll always cherish all your memories!
