Life lessons by Sir Bill Gates
Bill Gates- it’s
not just a name, it’s much more than that. He is the man everyone knows about
& everyone wishes to be. Today, we are able to use our laptops, desktops
just because of the work this man did. I don’t think he needs any kind of
introduction… his name is just more than enough!!!
Some years back, he visited a high
school & gave an amazing speech. He told the students about a few golden
rules of life. Those rules that the school is never going to teach them but the
world will surely.
As per him,
the way that the school teaches is creating students with no concept of reality
& it sets them up for failure in their lives.
Let’s have a
look at the rules that he mentioned in his speech:
Ø Life is not fair- get used to it!
Many times
all our efforts go in vain. Life can be too unfair at times. But the thing is
we can’t do anything about that. So, there is no point crying over this fact. Only
working is in your hands… so, work as harder as you can. Yeah, life is unfair
but you need to learn to tackle that.
“Whatever that can’t be cured… has to
be endured.”
Ø The world doesn’t care about your self- esteem. The world will expect you to
accomplish something before you feel good about yourself!
This world just belongs to the achievers. It doesn’t even
give a damn to those who attempted but failed. Everyone knows Neil Armstrong
but very few know who else was with him when he landed there & who the next
guy to reach there was. Some do know the answer but it doesn’t make much difference
because the achievement got overshadowed by the early accomplishment.
“This world is not
going to treat you with respect until you earn that respect!”
Ø You’ll not make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president
with a car phone until you earn both!
By saying the above statement, he is actually referring to
the main element for success- Struggle. Without struggle nothing is going to be
achieved. Sometimes you’ll fail, sometimes you’ll fall but you should not stop
working for your dreams. That’s the only way to get to the place you wish to be
at.
“Dreams come true
without working only in Disney movies!”
Ø If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss!
Every one of
us at some point had negative feelings for some teacher. “He is so creepy”- a
line that almost every one of us had used for some teachers. He wants to say
that perhaps, you have got a teacher who is quite strict but there are even
more strict persons whom you’ll have to face when you get to earn for your
living. The man who’ll be paying you would be expecting quite too much from
you- then you’ll understand that your teachers’ expectations were nothing as
compared to him.
“Even bad starts looking good when
worse happen!”
Ø Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different
word for flipping burgers: they called it opportunity!
Well, his
sentence has got nothing to do with cooking. He was just trying to explain the
difference of perspectives. Every bad side has a bright side too. There is no
job in the world that is creepy. Follow excellence, success will come running
itself!
“Don’t allow your ego to interfere in
your life. Be humble, be grounded.
The world doesn’t owe you anything…
but you owe a lot to this world.”
Ø If you mess up it’s not your parent’s fault. So, don’t whine about your mistakes,
learn from them!
Many times when
we fail, we get disappointed to such an extent that we don’t get what to do. In
such circumstances, we blame every person who is around us. But, that’s not it
can be solved. You failed because of your own mistakes, don’t blame anyone else
for your misery. Stop complaining that your parents made you fail here &
there, directly or indirectly… they never did something like that. Ask them whenever
you are in problem- at maximum, they’ll scold you but certainly help you to get
out of those killing circumstances.
“Never be afraid of asking for
guidance. Your elders have gone through all that you’re
facing now!”
Ø Before you were born, your parents were not as boring as they are now. They
got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes & listening to you talk about how cool you think you
are!
Don’t get
mad over your parents for anything. They are working hard just to make sure you
live your life with all the comforts. They sacrificed their dreams to make sure
you don’t have to do that. They paid all your bills, got you admitted to a
great school, gifted you all your gadgets like smartphones, laptop etc. today,
you are enable to read this just because of your parents only. All they expect
from you is polite behavior.
“Your parents are not living in
boredom by choice… they chose so to make sure your life
remains full of great events!”
Ø Your school may have done with winners & losers but life has not. In schools,
they have abolished the failing grades & give you as many chances as you want to give the answers right. This
doesn’t bear even a slightest resemblance
to anything in real life!
The schools’
way is completely different than the way life goes. One wrong move & your
game is over- that’s how this world works.
“You can’t afford the luxury of even
one wrong move in real life.”
Ø Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off here!
The school
teaching system is invalid in real life. They have got semesters but not life. Anything
you learn today in life might be useful after 10 years or so & if you go
wrong there, it’ll be a big loss. Life is all about learning 7 learning. You need
to first learn the lesson & then, learn when to apply that.
“Life has its own concepts. It doesn’t
care about yours.”
Ø Television is not the real life!
Watching TV
has a lot of effects on us. We imagine how our life is going to be like &
how we’ll deal after reaching there, on the basis of what we see in TV. But, it
is not the real life. In real life, people have to leave their coffee on the
table & get to work on time.
“What we see in TV is just a work of
fiction… highly illogical fiction!”
Ø Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one!
They say, be
nice to people who are significant. But it’s impossible to know who is going to
be significant in our life after a few years. So, the best way is to treat
everyone you meet politely. You’ll be hired by those who don’t know about that
work but they know how to get that done!
These were
those 11 golden rules that the most charismatic person in this world learnt in
his life. Surely, they are amazing. Try keeping these in mind & feel the
difference in your life!!!
The golden
words by the world’s richest person currently & he got nothing in charity. He
a[earned all this!!!
“The better you are familiar with the
rules of the game, the better you will perform!”
